How does the deposit work for a car rental in Marrakech?

The standard deposit in Marrakech is a bank pre-authorisation of 5,000 to 30,000 MAD depending on the vehicle rented. No amount is charged to the account. The bank releases the hold within 7 days of the vehicle's return.

The pre-authorisation charges no amount to the client's account. It only reserves a portion of the card's limit for the length of the rental. Minimum age, driving licence and required document conditions appear on the dedicated rental conditions page.

The exact pre-authorisation amount depends on the vehicle booked. A 4x4 or a saloon requires a deposit close to 5,000 MAD, while a convertible or a Range Rover Sport approaches 30,000 MAD. The bank releases the hold automatically, with no action from the client.

Why does the pre-authorisation cause problems for tourists?

The pre-authorisation blocks part of the bank card's limit for 7 days, on a card that also funds the holiday. Some prepaid cards and debit cards do not support pre-authorisation, the most common cause of failure at handover.

A tourist paying for the hotel, excursions and meals with the same card loses temporary access to 5,000 to 30,000 MAD of limit. This block lasts up to 7 days after the vehicle's return, not only during the rental period.

Prepaid cards, debit cards without a credit function and some foreign cards refuse the pre-authorisation at the moment of key handover. The no-deposit option avoids this refusal since no hold is requested from the agent.

Does the no-deposit option apply to every vehicle in the fleet?

No. The no-deposit option applies to every vehicle except the Ferrari and Lamborghini supercars and the Rolls-Royce Cullinan. These three categories require the standard pre-authorisation of 5,000 to 30,000 MAD, with no exception, regardless of the driver.

4x4s and SUVs, the Range Rover Sport and Evoque, Mercedes saloons, Audi models, convertibles and Porsche models all fall under the no-deposit option. Only the vehicles with the highest replacement value remain excluded.

The Range Rover Sport and the Range Rover Evoque remain eligible for the no-deposit option. The Rolls-Royce Cullinan, positioned at the top of the fleet, requires the standard pre-authorisation on the same basis as the Ferrari and Lamborghini supercars.

Does the no-deposit option change the excess?

No. The no-deposit option only removes the 5,000 to 30,000 MAD bank pre-authorisation. The excess remains between 8,000 and 25,000 MAD depending on the vehicle and is waived separately at 200 MAD per day.

The excess is the amount remaining at the client's charge for damage not covered by the waiver. It ranges from 8,000 MAD on a 4x4 to 25,000 MAD on a supercar, independently of the deposit choice. Insurance and excess are covered in full on a dedicated page.

Can the no-deposit option be combined with the excess waiver?

Yes. Combining the no-deposit option at 250 MAD per day with the full excess waiver at 200 MAD per day costs 450 MAD per day in total. This combination removes both the bank pre-authorisation and any financial exposure in the event of a claim.

A client paying 450 MAD per day presents no pre-authorisation at key handover and owes no amount for a covered accident. This combination suits family stays and bank cards with a limited credit line.

How do you add the no-deposit option to a booking in Marrakech?

The no-deposit option is added at online booking or directly at key handover, with no extra document. The 250 MAD daily surcharge adds to the vehicle rate and displays before confirmation, regardless of the booking channel chosen.

A client booking through the site's form ticks the no-deposit option before confirming. A client arriving without a prior booking requests it directly from the agent at key handover, at the same rate of 250 MAD per day. Full rates by vehicle category appear on the dedicated pricing page.

Frequently asked questions about no-deposit car rental in Marrakech

Six questions come up before every no-deposit booking in Marrakech: eligible vehicles, cost, when to add it, excess, bank cards and account charges. The answers below cover the whole fleet.

Is the no-deposit option available on every vehicle?

No. It applies to every vehicle in the fleet except the Ferrari and Lamborghini supercars and the Rolls-Royce Cullinan. These vehicles require a standard bank pre-authorisation of 5,000 to 30,000 MAD, with no exception, regardless of the driver's profile or the rental length.

How much does no-deposit car rental cost in Marrakech?

The no-deposit option costs 250 MAD per day, added to the rate of the vehicle chosen. This surcharge fully replaces the 5,000 to 30,000 MAD bank pre-authorisation and displays before the booking is confirmed, with no extra document to provide.

Can the no-deposit option be added after booking?

Yes. The option is added at online booking or directly at key handover at the counter. No minimum notice applies, and the 250 MAD daily surcharge stays the same regardless of when it is added.

Does the no-deposit option remove the excess in the event of an accident?

No. The excess remains between 8,000 and 25,000 MAD depending on the vehicle. It is waived separately at 200 MAD per day. Combining both options costs 450 MAD per day and removes both the pre-authorisation and the financial exposure.

Why do some bank cards fail at vehicle handover?

Prepaid cards and some debit cards do not support the bank pre-authorisation required for the standard deposit. This is the most common cause of failure at handover. The no-deposit option removes this risk since no pre-authorisation is requested.

Is the standard deposit charged to the bank account?

No. The standard deposit is a pre-authorisation, not a charge. The bank blocks the amount of 5,000 to 30,000 MAD on the card, then releases the hold within 7 days of the vehicle's return, with no amount leaving the account.
