How does the car rental deposit work in Marrakech?

The car rental deposit in Marrakech ranges from 5,000 to 30,000 MAD depending on the vehicle, taken as a bank card pre-authorisation on Visa or Mastercard. It is never charged and releases automatically within 7 days after return.

The pre-authorisation blocks the amount against the card's limit without a real transaction. The account balance stays unchanged; the bank shows only a funds hold for the rental period.

A no-deposit formula exists for drivers who prefer not to block funds on their card. The excess, the amount left to the driver's charge in case of damage, is handled separately from the deposit.

Are the second driver and child seats included?

Yes. The second driver is added free of charge to the rental contract in Marrakech, on presentation of their own licence. Child seats are also free, in 3 sizes: 0-13 kg, 9-18 kg and 15-36 kg, fitted before the vehicle handover.

The second driver meets the same age and licence-seniority conditions as the main driver. Their name appears on the contract at handover, with no document beyond the licence and the passport.

Is mileage unlimited and where can the vehicle be driven around Marrakech?

Yes. Mileage is unlimited across Moroccan territory, with no distance surcharge. The vehicle never leaves Morocco, Ceuta and Melilla included, and drives only on marked tracks such as Agafay or Lalla Takerkoust, never on unmarked sand.

Unlimited mileage covers trips to Ouarzazate, Essaouira, the Ourika valley and Merzouga, with no counter and no extra billing on return. Drop-off outside Marrakech is billed separately, at 4 MAD per kilometre from the Guéliz base.
