Why rent a convertible in Marrakech?
The convertible in Marrakech allows roof-down driving under a dry climate for 300 days a year, with a direct view of the ochre ramparts of the Medina and the palm trees of the Palmeraie. Six models cover the city and the coast road to Essaouira.
Marrakech records 300 days of clear sky per year, against 180 days in Paris. This exposure makes the convertible usable for most of the year, provided the hours and months are matched to local heat.
The city's architectural heritage strengthens the appeal of an open roof. The 19-kilometre ochre ramparts around the Medina, the gardens of the Palmeraie and the wide avenues of Guéliz drive differently without a fixed roof between the driver and the city.
The convertible favours open, relaxed driving. For a sportier experience, the sports car and supercar range offers closed, more powerful models, suited to the Atlas mountain road.
- Drive along the ochre ramparts of the Medina at sunset, roof down.
- Cross the avenues of Guéliz and Hivernage in the evening, without the heat of the day.
- Drive the N8 coast road to Essaouira, with sea air starting at Chichaoua.
- Reach the villas of the Palmeraie along its palm-lined lanes.

What is the best time of year to drive a convertible in Marrakech?
The best period for a convertible in Marrakech runs from October to April, with daytime temperatures of 18 to 26°C. In July and August, midday heat reaches 45°C and makes roof-down driving uncomfortable between 12pm and 5pm.
Marrakech's climate varies sharply by season. From October to April, daytime temperatures stay between 18 and 26°C, with cool mornings around 10°C. These months allow roof-down driving all day long.
From June to August, the thermometer passes 40°C between 12pm and 5pm, reaching 45°C in July. The roof stays closed and the air conditioning takes over during these hours. Morning slots, before 10am, and evening slots, after 6pm, remain roof-down practical all year, including in summer.
In the evening, the temperature drops below 28°C from 7pm, even in August. The avenues of Guéliz and the lanes of the Palmeraie light up, and the drive to dinner or back to the hotel commonly happens roof down.
Which convertible models can be rented in Marrakech?
Six convertible models are available in Marrakech: Mercedes E-Class, BMW 4 Series, Porsche 911, Audi A5, Range Rover Evoque Convertible and Rolls-Royce Dawn. Rates range from 2,400 MAD per day for the Audi A5 to 7,800 MAD for the Rolls-Royce Dawn.
The Audi A5 Cabriolet and the Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet suit the city and paved roads. The Porsche 911 Cabriolet adds sporting performance, with a 0 to 100 km/h time of 4.4 seconds on the Carrera S version.
The BMW 4 Series Convertible carries a retractable hard-top, closing in 18 seconds, which limits wind noise above 130 km/h. The Range Rover Evoque Convertible keeps a ground clearance of 212 mm, useful on the unpaved tracks of the Palmeraie. The Rolls-Royce Dawn serves weddings and protocol transfers, with a fabric roof that closes in 22 seconds.

What are the rental conditions for a convertible in Marrakech?
Renting a convertible in Marrakech requires a minimum age of 23 for the Audi A5 and Mercedes E-Class, and 27 for the Porsche 911 and Rolls-Royce Dawn. Three documents are required: passport, driving licence and a bank card in the driver's name.
A national licence suffices for nationals of the European Union, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, the United States and Canada, for a stay of up to one year. An international licence is only necessary if the original licence does not use the Latin alphabet.
The deposit ranges from 8,000 to 25,000 MAD by card pre-authorisation, never charged, released within 7 days after return. A no-deposit option exists at 250 MAD per day, excluding the Porsche 911 and Rolls-Royce Dawn.

Which route suits a convertible from Marrakech?
The coast road to Essaouira suits a convertible best, over 175 kilometres and 2h30 by the N8, with sea air starting at Chichaoua. The tracks of Agafay and the Atlas mountains remain reserved for 4x4 vehicles, beyond a convertible's reach.
The N8 links Marrakech to Essaouira on a paved, fast road, with no track sections. The route crosses the Chichaoua plain then follows the Atlantic coast for the final 30 kilometres, with cooler air than in town as the ocean approaches.
The convertible does not suit the tracks of the Agafay desert or the mountain roads to Ouarzazate, reserved for vehicles with higher ground clearance. In town, the convertible remains suited to the avenues of Guéliz, Hivernage and the Palmeraie, all paved.

Frequently asked questions about convertible rental in Marrakech
Five questions come up most often before booking a convertible in Marrakech: summer heat, the deposit, minimum age, permitted tracks and fuel type. The answers below apply to all six available models.
Can you drive roof-down in summer in Marrakech?
Yes, but only in the early morning and evening. The roof stays practical before 10am and after 6pm in July and August. Between 12pm and 5pm, the temperature passes 40°C and the roof stays closed, with air conditioning on, for passenger comfort.
What deposit is required for a convertible in Marrakech?
The deposit ranges from 8,000 MAD for the Audi A5 to 25,000 MAD for the Rolls-Royce Dawn. It is taken by card pre-authorisation, never charged, and released within 7 days after the vehicle is returned to our Guéliz office.
Can a convertible drive on the Agafay track?
No. The convertible remains reserved for paved roads in Marrakech, from Guéliz to Essaouira via the N8. The Agafay track and the mountain roads to the Atlas require a vehicle with higher ground clearance, such as the Range Rover Sport or Range Rover Evoque.
What is the minimum age to rent a convertible in Marrakech?
The minimum age is 23 for the Audi A5 Cabriolet and Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet, with a licence held for 2 years. The Porsche 911 Cabriolet and Rolls-Royce Dawn require 27 years and a licence held for 3 years.
Can you rent a convertible in Marrakech without a deposit?
Yes, for four of the six models. The no-deposit option costs 250 MAD per day and applies to the Audi A5, Mercedes E-Class, BMW 4 Series and Range Rover Evoque Convertible. The Porsche 911 Cabriolet and Rolls-Royce Dawn require the standard deposit.
